What?
- Our school is joining the fight against our nation's #1 killer, cardiovascular disease and stroke!
- Jump Rope for Heart is a fun and effective way to teach heart-healthy
living that emphasizes the importance of physical activity and allows
children to do something they enjoy. Students will be gearing up for
this event over the next few weeks by learning new and exciting jump
rope skills.
-
This is our school's 17th year participating in this very worthwhile
event. Last year, our students raised $6,942.00, which was the highest
amount ever raised in the Columbia County Schools. This year's goal is
to raise at least $5500.00 and to keep the traveling trophy for the 6th
year!
- We will have a surprise Coaches Challenge if our goal is met. The
coaches will be "slimed" on the morning broadcast. There will be a
special Jump Rope for Heart banner for the top fundraising class. We
will also have 75 "Super Jumpers" this year. The AHA will present a
trophy to the top fundraising school in the county. Columbia City
Elementary has received the traveling trophy for 5 consecutive years
for raising the most money in the Columbia County Schools.
Why?
- In promoting good health and fitness, we are participating in a
fundraiser for the American Heart Association called Jump Rope for
Heart. The money our school raises helps fund potentially lifesaving
research into heart and blood vessel diseases. It also supports the
development of education materials which teach the importance of heart
health and staying physically fit.
Details
- We do NOT want children to go door-to-door asking for donations.
We
suggest setting a goal of asking 5 people to sponsor your child.
Family, friends, dentists, physicians, and church congregations are
usually very willing to donate for this beneficial cause. Businesses
might even match donations your child collects. Checks should be made
to the American Heart Association and are tax deductible.
