Our Principal

Welcome to Columbia City Elementary! We are a school serving approximately 700 students pre k through grade 5, in rural Columbia County. We have a faculty and staff of 93 truly dedicated people and students of whom we are very proud. We are extremely proud of the academic achievement and behavior of our students.
We offer a well-rounded curriculum which is based on New Generation Sunshine State Standards. We offer remediation to struggling students and lots of challenging activities for students of all ability levels. In addition to a stimulating classroom curriculum, students also have the opportunity to take part in physical education, art, music, and technology activities under the direction of certified special area teachers. Students also have access to a well-stocked media center throughout the day.
Character building also receives special emphasis at CCE. Respect, honesty, responsibility, cooperation, communication, good judgment, positive attitude, dependability, and integrity are taught by classroom teachers and the guidance counselor on a regular basis. Fun character-building skits, games, and discussions are part of our twice-weekly closed circuit television broadcast hosted by our guidance counselor. There is a very concentrated school-wide effort to help students develop into good citizens with a strong moral compass.
Our school offers a variety of extra curricular activities. All students have the opportunity to appear on our morning television broadcast at least once each year. We also have an active Student Council, Safety Patrol, a 4th and 5th grade chorus and recorder club, and a student broadcast crew. Students take part in many assemblies, field trips, and field days.
Student achievement is recognized and rewarded on a regular basis throughout the year. Honor roll, perfect attendance, and Accelerated Reader accomplishments are rewarded with certificates and recognition by the principal each nine weeks. Outstanding student authors are also recognized each nine weeks. Other awards and recognition opportunities are given to various contest winners throughout the year. Science fair awards, spelling bee winners, speech winners, poetry, poster and art contest winners, math bee and Think Sharp participants all receive special recognition.
Parent Involvement is a big part of the Columbia City Elementary experience. We have an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and an active School Advisory Council (SAC). Parents are encouraged to be volunteers if possible. For those who can't volunteer we encourage them to attend and be involved in open houses, after school programs, and parent-teacher conferences. We want everyone to know they are welcome and an important part of our school ¨family¨
We believe we have a wonderful school, terrific students, and an outstanding faculty and staff. We invite you to come for a visit and experience for yourself what Columbia City has to offer. We just ask that all visitors come first to the office to get a visitors pass. The safety and security of our students are very important to us.
